5 Goals in First Seals Bears 3rd in Row

The Ice Bears made the long trek to Janesville on Tuesday night determined to continue their winning ways. After a 5 goal explosion in period one, the Bears never looked back and cruised to an 8-3 road victory over the Bluebirds.

Casey Fisher (Germantown) and Ian Devenport (West Bend East) were credited with assists on the Kesselhon tally. Devenport and Fisher connected for a Devenport goal 4 minutes later taking the Ice Bears lead to 2. The Devenport/Fisher connection wasn’t finished as they again hooked up for Devenport’s 2nd goal of the period less than two minutes later.

Ethan Coughlin (West Bend West) got in on the action scoring a powerplay goal at the 10:31 mark in the period with an assist to Eli Kopish (West Bend East). Riley Kress (West Bend East) scored the Bears 5th goal in the first giving Devenport his 4th point of the period with an assist.

With a 5-0 lead heading into the second period, Andy Butler (Germantown) got the Bears on the board again just 49 seconds in with a helper from Kopish. Janesville finally got one past goalie Chris Clement (Slinger), who stopped 30 of 33 shots in the contest, to cut the Bears lead to 6-1.

The Bluebirds showed some signs of life to start the 3rd and scored their second of the game 8 minutes in. Kenny Likins (Grafton) found the back of the net and the Bears regained their 5 goal lead with an assist from Zach Simbro (Slinger) two minutes later. Janesville scored for the 3rd time and Adam Butler (Germantown) dumped the Ice Bears 8th goal into an empty net to seal the victory with a helper from Cam Sullivan (Port Washington).
